52th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

The greatest cultural event of the year in Karlovy Vary is surely the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The most famous film festival in the Czech Republic will take place in the city’s cinemas during the first week of July.

During the event you can have an unique opportunity to attend a large number of Czech, European or international premieres of films from all over the world. During the festival they compete for festival prizes: Crystal Globes. In addition to competition sections, special sections are also part of the program, focusing on horror, young director talents, stories of people with disabilities, or the most interesting contemporary Czech films.

The Karlovy Vary Festival is also an unique social event attended by many czech and foreign celebrities. It would be a shame to end the day with the last screening: nearby restaurants, bars and wine bars have a unique atmosphere at the time of the festival, and if you’re lucky, you may meet for example the director of the film that you’ve just seen.
