Čapek and Čapek in the Art Gallery
It is difficult to find brothers who have influenced the Czech culture more than Karel and Josef Čapek - in Bohemia there is not a single child, who wouldn!t be familiar with the stories about Doggie and Pussycat which the two brothers have written together and Josef provided with illustrations. In addition to novels, short stories and successful plays Karel Čapek became known as the inventor of the word robot, which has spread into many world languages. Josef became famous as one of the most important Czech Cubist artists.
The exhibition at the Karlovy Vary Art Gallery focuses on children's themes in the works of both brothers. There are exhibited Joseph's paintings and illustrations, as well as examples of joint literary works of both brothers dedicated to the children. For more information visit the website of the event.
