A walk to the Bečov Treasure
During each autumn there are days which would be a pity to spend in town. If you decide to go for a walk in nature, we recommend that you visit the nearby chateau in Bečov nad Teplou. The chateau, located in the middle of the woods, hides one of the most precious jewels of the Czech Republic.
During the centuries, in the castle there have gathered historic monuments of several architectural styles. Among the numerous buildings of the complex you will find a Gothic castle, a baroque castle or a Renaissance palace with a classicist finish. The complex is surrounded by beautiful beautiful castle gardens from the 19th century and a castle park.
The castle is not only famous for historical buildings – in 1985, there was a tresure found in the Gothic castle. Relicion and bottles of archive wines and cognac were hidden by the castle owners of the time at the end of the Second World War when they left Bohemia. The Saint Maur's Relicion is a remarkable monument, which includes, among others, remains of John the Baptist and can be seen on the commented tour.
